Diana drove me to the airport early Friday (May 11th) morning and we said our difficult goodbye tempered only by the fact that I will see her later this month in Albuquerque. Connecting through Denver on Frontier Airlines, the flight went smoothly and on time. Enjoyed a nice lunch with friends, Dick and Dorothy, shortly after my arrival in Los Angeles.
Marriott Courtyard El Segundo Rolls Out Red Carpet
Managed to put the bike back together with minimal headscratching and no parts left over.
Went for an enjoyable ride along the beach on a terrific bike path that ran up toward Santa Monica. Both the bike and rider felt good.
I have had an opportunity to meet several of my fellow riders and they seem like a good bunch of people. We are having a meeting this afternoon of all the riders and CrossRoads staff along with our first group dinner this evening.
Early tomorrow morning the adventure begins....
Hi again, Mike!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't tell from the tiny map what route you will be following east out of L.A. Janice and I will be near Palm Springs and would like to cheer as you ride by!

Mike,
ReplyDeleteI know we've talked/texted many times in the past few days, but I must say I felt a twinge of guilt when I was reading your blogsite and didn't see any good wihes from me in print. On your first day of riding I wish you good weather, smooth roads that are mostly down hill, a great ride, and the wind at your back. Don't do anything risky (opps a little late for that comment). Love you
Godspeed Mr. Karwowski!
ReplyDeleteSafe passage and best of luck to you and all your fellow riders each day of the journey!
